Canada's Blue Jays Secure Fall Classic Matchup With the Dodgers

George Springer celebrating

The outfielder previously helped the Houston Astros claiming the World Series in the 2017 season.

Canada's MLB team advanced to their maiden Fall Classic after 1993 by overcoming the Seattle Mariners in the final game seven of the AL Championship Series.

Down by two runs, outfielder George Springer smashed a three-run blast in the seventh, guiding the sole Canadian team in MLB to a four games to three triumph in the series. They will now face the Dodgers, who are the current crown, in the anticipated championship.

"It's incredible for this squad, the city, our country," commented Springer, a key player of the Houston Astros team that won the 2017 championship. "What an unbelievable moment."

The veteran has now connected for 23 total post-season home runs, placing him third all-time behind Manny Ramirez (29) and Altuve (27).

"There's probably not another player in the world that I'd prefer in that situation except for Springer with his October magic," said Blue Jays manager John Schneider.

Seattle's team, who had led the series two games to none and three games to two, remain the sole team yet to make an appearance in a Fall Classic.

Manager Dan Wilson stated "without a doubt that it's going to sting" after his team's loss at Rogers Centre, but praised their performance throughout the year.

"They're an exceptional squad. It's a shame that we had to come out on the wrong side of this one," he remarked.

Toronto claimed the championship on each of their earlier trips in 1992 and '93, and will welcome the Dodgers in the opener on this Friday.
