New information has come to light about the shocking demises of acclaimed filmmaker Rob Reiner and photographer Michele Singer Reiner, whose bodies were discovered at their Los Angeles home property on Sunday.

The Discovery

As detailed in an account citing a person close to the family, a therapist scheduled for an appointment first raised the alarm after being unable to gain access the home. This individual then got in touch with the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who lives nearby.

After gaining access to the residence, Romy came upon her father's body. Reports state she then fled the house in anguish, without knowing at that moment that her mother's body was also inside. Her roommate who had accompanied her promptly called 911. Following this, first responders discovered Michele Singer Reiner's body.

Criminal Charges

Law enforcement have charged the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with the charges of murder in the first degree, along with the charge related to a weapon, reportedly a knife. He is presently in custody without bail.

Clarifications

The anonymous source also disputed several initial details. It was stated that while Romy Reiner informed first responders that her brother Nick resided in a detached unit on the grounds, she did not name him as a potential suspect at that moment.

The source also pushed back against published notions that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been unusually "worried" about Nick's actions in the preceding period. The source claimed the family was "used to working through [Nick's] problems together."

This refutation applies to accounts of reportedly "unstable" behavior by Nick at a gathering thrown by Conan O'Brien the evening prior to the discovery. While the source said they were unable to confirm whether Rob had "rebuked" his son at the party, they asserted that claims of a "major confrontation" between the two were not correct.

Investigation Details

As stated by law enforcement officials, the coroner had yet to determine at that point whether the Reiners died Saturday night or on Sunday. Some media reports suggested the state of their bodies suggested they had been deceased for a period of time.

Nick Reiner was arrested at around 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the Exposition Park, roughly 15 miles from the scene. He was scheduled to be arraigned on Tuesday, but his legal counsel, Alan Jackson, stated his client had not received medical clearance and would be unable to attend until Wednesday or later.
