The second-hand marketplace Users Share Displeasure Over Sizing Modifications
Shoppers are voicing their frustration following a change that caused listings displaying inaccurate size information.
The second-hand shopping app has revised its sizing categories for women's and children's garments failing to inform all shoppers about the modification.
Social Media Response
Numerous buyers and vendors are expressing on platforms claiming that product pages now present an altered size classification compared to what was initially listed as a result of the reclassification.
The company said the revised method more closely matches comparable marketplaces.
They have suggested members to examine their items and adjust the sizing manually if necessary, causing user dissatisfaction.
Size Classification Changes
Before the change, the sizes had both one number and one letter, for instance S/8 or M/10.
The updated approach includes an alphabetical indicator and numerical range for example S/UK 8-10.
For certain items, the measurements have been reclassified - like an L measurement used to be a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.
Shopper Experiences
A fashion influencer, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.
Stephanie Gallen, based in Glasgow, stated items she posted with size 14 tags were displaying on the service as larger sizing 20-22.
"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they're going to be very disappointed," she stated.
Necessary Adjustments
Charlotte Lunn, based in Derby, said she had been left angered by the change as she had to manually change the measurements for "each individual item".
"This situation is especially annoying, because of my ongoing medical condition and selling on Vinted has been paramount following partial earnings loss," she said.
Marketplace Information
The app has more than 100 million members, including 18 million in the UK.
It has proved a popular alternative versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.
This isn't the first time where an unanticipated change within the service has received backlash: previously, the service retracted a modification concerning shipment methods after backlash from users.
